  1. Yo good guy….

    • billybuton,

Since you’re (hopefully only unintentionally) inconsiderate enough to actually suggest machine translations as a (very poor) substitute for Zhan Long releases here, then why don’t you just look for one for BBTH for yourself, hmm? o,O

(Perhaps you’re one of those that can actually tolerate mtl. Well, some of us won’t find it enjoyable to be forced to second guess almost every word in what is supposed to be *entertainment* media. That’s a far cry from bad grammar and typos that a reader can trivially ignore or mentally autocorrect.)

It’s a different story if you were simply begging for more Dou Po Cang Qiong. It’s always in bad taste to blatantly encourage sacrificing an active project for another because of personal preferences. (How would you feel if someone convinces the translators here to abandon investing more on BTTH because it’s not MMORPG and just plain wuxia?) 😦

      • weakwithwords I find your answer quite a gem and powerful in words 🙂 . thanks for expressing my same thoughts. For some of us that have just started reading novels coming from “printed books” even a reviewed and proofed translation is difficult to follow because of
        – a different style in narration (sometimes floating like a Joice free-thought)
        – of unavoidable losses in the translating process
        – of the fact that few of us are not English mother tongues so connecting through absent puntcuation, direct and indirect speech mixed and in general through nebulous concept.

But after reading all Zhan Long, I can easily see how using a text MTL would be a major mistake because it would undermine the narration in the chapter. I can guarantee that reading a novel while struggling not to correct few mistakes but to give the sense to the concepts becomes an upsetting long task like unfolding a wool thread ball after a cat played with it. I personally would still wait for the Lord GoodGuy edit cause his work is reliable and good.
Regarding personal tastes, De Gustibus Non Disputandum est, so I will not enter that topic, to each one his own, I don’t think a blog with 22.5 mil reading needs his push in one or the other direction.
Thanks again WWW for your comment.

    • My request.. .focus on zhan long 😛
There are already so many wuxia’s being translated, it is kinda unique and brave for goodguyperson to be attempting something different.. ! And i personally love it too.

    • I was so disappointed with the shallowness of the Manhua that I stopped after half a chapter. The novel really is so much better.

      Like

      • It is indeed shallow, but the comedic relief was a fresh take on the novel itself. The manhua is currently at chapter 115, equal to about 400~ of the novel. I consider the manhua is a good choice to start the series since it builds up character images quite well, but then it’s only my personal opinion.

        • yeah, probably the genre for manhua more like their target readers coverage to children also, so I think its more shounen while the novel is seinen since very few children read novel than the adults then I think thats understandable how shallow the manhua is.

          • I usually can’t really stand the manhuas because of the comedic takes that go too far. I usually use them as a reference for characters’ faces or to see how the author (or at least artist) sees the character.

  2. Zhan long and BTTH are both good. Since zhan long is further along in the story I find it more satisfying then BTTH , but im sure they are both equally amazing.
    Thanks again

    • There’s a BBTH manga that is currently translated into english for the first 9 chapters. I dont know how much the manga follows the novel. But pretty much the first 5 LN chapters are in manga chapter 1

  4. if they could at least tell us what they plan to do with the translation of BTTH, it will prevent us to come each day to see if a new chapter is out and see nothing.

  5. So I read the first chapter but I have no idea what I am reading and was hoping for brief description about the story and whats actually about. For instance, Zhan Long is about a guy who finds himself barely making ends meat working as a security guard when all of a sudden he is given a new job as a body guard and finds himself immersed in (name of virtual reality game) where he works towards his goals… etc..etc..

Some sort of summary on the story is all i ask xD

    • here the summary.

In a land where no magic is present. A land where the strong makes the rules and weak has to obey. A land filled with alluring treasures and beauty yet also filled with unforeseen danger. Xiao Yan, who has shown talents none had seen in decades, suddenly three years ago lost everything, his powers, his reputation, and his promise to his mother. What sorcery has caused him to lose all of his powers? And why has his fiancee suddenly shown up?

P.S is it me or there is an advert that’s covering the upper part of your posts and it says: “A chat by tlk.io; Hosted by Linode”? I hope you can do something about this.

  13. Thanks for translating this novel! It’s really starting to pick my interest! =D

BTW: Can someone make a summary of all those Qi levels and the Dou Zhi Li, Dou Zhe ranks and so on?… I don’t understand most of it, really… And until I get really into the series I’m not going to remember all those Chinese words that sound the same… I mean, even though I’ve read till current chapter 16 I still found it hard to remember who is “Xiao Yun” (the MC), Xiao Zhan (MC’s father) and “Xiao Yan” (the 9th something girl).

  16. Just binge read all of these, turned out to be a really good story. Maybe you should put a summary on the front page for more people to actually understand that this is worth the read since they probably just pass it over (I know I did for the longest time), if they don’t read it already. I like it even more than Zhan Long. Thanks for the translations!
